The following campgrounds are strictly tenting.....

1. BEAR LEDGE CAMPGROUND

266 Danforth Road Pittsburg NH. Located here on Prospect Mountain, we have 5 walk-in sites, a centralized outhouse, and drinking water at the main house. A donation-only campground that caters primarily to the thru-hikers on the Cohos Trail. Fantastic views and we're open until the snow flies and as the snow flies.!!!! 2. Deer Mountain Campground

Located on Rt. 3 up by East Inlet. (5309 North Main St. Pittsburg, NH 03592), they have 20-26 sites available. Open May - Oct. Phone: (603) 538-6965

ANIMAL WATCHING:

The deer are out mostly at night scavaging for food and the moose are rarely seen at this time of year...Keep your eyes open on the trails and roads. Expect the unexpected!

HIKING:

There are numerous places to hike in Pittsburg and the surrounding area...For Hikes into Garfield Falls, Indian Stream Canyon, Hellgate Falls, Magalloway Mountain etc...see our HIKING IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AND MAINE site.. ...also, Dog-sledding is becoming more popular up here in the recent years as well as Cross Country Skiing. Important to note is the snowmobiles have the right-of-way on the trails...not because they think they are superior but because We can hear them but they can't hear Us!

The Cohos Trail with headquarters located in Northern Coos County offers many day hikes as well as a long-distance trek that can take up to two weeks or more. SWIMMING:

Most of the lakes and ponds offer a place to swim but if cold mountain water isn't your thing then try out the indoor pool in Colebrook. The NORTH COUNTRY RECREATION CENTER in downtown Colebrook has an olympic-sized pool with on-duty lifeguards for a very reasonable price!

TENNIS:

The newly re-surfaced tennis courts are located in the Pittsburg village in back of the town park.

GOLF:

Want to play a few rounds of golf while taking in the scenic beauty of the North Country? Try the COLEBROOK COUNTRY CLUB ~ THE BALSAMS ~ or 'play as you stay' at SUNRISE LODGE

ATVing:

The Perry Stream Land and Timber Company located in Pittsburg has opened up over 80 miles of superior trails in the North Country! Probably the most beautiful trails found anywhere can be found at THE BALSAMS in Dixville Notch. Their trails are designed for the novice as well as the experts with breath-taking scenery!

ALPINE SKIING:

Awesome skiing offered at THE WILDERNESS SKI AREA in Dixville Notch. Expert ~ Intermediate ~ Beginner trails!
